Counselling offers you a safe space that is non-judgmental and confidential, where you can talk to someone about what is troubling you in your life and by working together with a counsellor, can find solutions, new coping strategies and techniques which you can take away with you as life skills.

You will be listened to, heard and regarded and by working together will help identify your own resources and strengths.  Having someone beside you to explore your thoughts, feelings or behaviour, unresolved issues, relationship dynamics or self-identify can offer comfort, new perspectives, clear thinking or positive changes.

Counselling provides an opportunity for you to gain a better understanding of yourself and gain a new perspective on your life situation.  This space can help you find your way through difficult times you may be experiencing and by working together can bring a more positive outlook to your future and way of being.

I read this quote and feel it captures the essence of counselling so beautifully:

“Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breathe of kindness, blow the rest away.”

- George Eliot
