Counselling offers you a space that is non-judgmental and confidential, where you can talk about whatever is troubling you in your life.  You will be listened to, heard, and regarded with the deepest of empathy.  By working together will help identify your own resources and strengths so you can find solutions, new coping strategies and techniques which you can take away with you as life skills.

Having someone beside you to explore your thoughts, feelings or behaviour, unresolved issues, relationship dynamics or self-identify can offer comfort, new perspectives, clear thinking or positive changes. Or you may simply need the space for yourself, to sit with any emotion that is too difficult to sit with alone.

Counselling provides an opportunity for you to gain a better understanding of yourself and gain a new perspective on your life situation.  This space can help you find your way through difficult times you may be experiencing to bring a more positive outlook to your future and way of being.

I read this quote and feel it captures the essence of counselling so beautifully:

“Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person; having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but to pour them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, knowing that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and then, with a breathe of kindness, blow the rest away.”

- George Eliot
